On the first day of the new school year in a school in Birmingham, England, the teacher began calling out the names of the pupils listed in the class registry:
"Fatima bin Saleh Al-Hayek?" "Here"
"Ahmed bin Salman Al-Kabul?" "Here"
"Mohammed bin Hussein Al-Kadir?" "Here"
"Aisha bin Abdullah Al-Olmi?" "Here"
"Mustafa bin Nawaf Al-Zaheri?" "Here"
"Ali Son Al-Len?” - No response.
"Ali Son Al-Len?" - Continued silence as everyone looked around the room.
The teacher called the name for the third time. . .
"Ali Son Al-Len!?!"
After several seconds, finally, a girl stood up and said, "Madam, I think that's me. It's pronounced Alison Allen."
