With Donald Trump continuing to lead the republican pack, leaders all over the world are warning that electing him as commander in chief would be downright dangerous.
During an interview with German newspaper Welt am Sonntag on Sunday, Germany’s Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel warned that Trump is a threat to world peace.
Whether Donald Trump, Marine le Pen or Geert Wilders — all these right-wing populists are not only a threat to peace and social cohesion, but also to economic development.
Trump’s fascist rhetoric is frightening indeed. His most well-known campaign promise is to build a wall along the southern border to keep out immigrants, which he insists he will force Mexico to pay for. He called for the banning of all Muslims from the U.S. and proposed various other bigoted measures to persecute followers of Islam, including a national registry and required ID.
Trump has also promised that if he is elected he will “bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding,” and has suggested that the only way to deal with terrorists is to slaughter innocent members of their families.
Although he has gone back and forth on how exactly he would get it done, Trump is hell-bent on figuring out a way to torture and murder somebody. On Sunday morning, he doubled down on his sadistic desires during an interview with CBS’ John Dickerson, saying he wouldn’t break international law, but he would do all he could to get the law changed to allow waterboarding, at the very least.
You know, it’s very tough to beat enemies that don’t have any, that don’t have any restrictions, all right? We have these massive restrictions. Now, I will always abide by the law, but I would like to have the law expanded,” Trump said.
I happen to think that when you’re fighting an enemy that chops off heads, I happen to think that we should use something that’s stronger than we have right now,” he continued. “Right now, basically, waterboarding is essentially not allowed, as I understand it. … I would certainly like it to be, at a minimum, at a minimum to allow that.
The German Vice Chancellor is not the first world leader to denounce Trump for his Hitleresque aspirations towards hatred and fascism. Leaders from around the world have taken a stand on his hateful rhetoric, including the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, Pakistan, Egypt and Israel.
Following Trump’s call to ban Muslims from the U.S., a petition circulated throughout the U.K. seeking to ban Trump. Although the measure eventually failed, the petition did garner enough signatures to force Parliament to vote on the issue. Mexico City, however, did actually pass legislature banning Trump. –If You Only News
