Atlantic City Casinos Should Look To New York For Inspiration: Letter

This past summer has been tough for the State of New Jersey. We watched parts of Atlantic City dry up, with four casinos closing so far this year. However, just north of us a very different story is unfolding with the expansion of gambling in New York.

The success of Resorts World Casino New York City in Queens cannot be missed. They have been drawing in new customers and providing quality service. And now, their parent company, Genting Americas, wants to bring another casino and resort to our region.

Sterling Forest Resort, the proposed casino, is one hour away from Central New Jersey, and only 20 minutes from much of the Northern part of our state. With all of the turmoil occurring in Atlantic City, the potential opening of a new casino that is closer to the majority of New Jersey residents shouldn’t be seen as cataclysmic, but welcome news, and a sign of progress. Additional competition should spur Atlantic City’s competitive side and inspire the owners of the hotels and casinos down there to come back stronger than ever.
