The Park Service has been letting veterans in to the World War II memorial, but no one else, as it, like almost everything else under the federal government’s auspices was forced to shut down because of the Tea Party and John Boehner.
nment shutdown on Tuesday, forced a Park Ranger to apologize for a veterans memorial being shut down. On Wednesday. Texas Republican Rep. Randy Neugebauer was filmed telling the ranger she “ought to be ashamed” of herself.
“How do you look at them and, deny them access?” Rep. Neugebauer asked the woman.
“It’s difficult,” the Park Service ranger responded.
“Well, it should be difficult,” replied Neugebauer.
“It is difficult,” she again responded. “I’m sorry, sir.”
“The Park Service should be ashamed of themselves,” Neugebauer said.
“I’m not ashamed,” firmly replied the ranger.
Then a member of the crowd said, “Ask those questions of the people who aren’t passing the budget. That’s who you need to ask these questions to.”
“This woman is doing her job, just like me,” another person shouted. “I’m a 30-year federal veteran — I’m out of work.”
“Well, the reason you are is because Mr. Reid decided to shut down the government,” Neugebauer falsely claimed.
“No, it’s because the government won’t do its job and pass a budget,” the man responded.
Neugebauer slunked away.
“The day before he was taped harassing a Park Ranger for doing her job,” Gawker notes, “Neugebauer went on The Chad Hasty Show to state that he will keep the government shut down for ‘as long as it takes’ to ensure that Obamacare is not funded, claiming it was the will of the American people.”
It’s no wonder Congress’ approval is at an all-time low, as is the Tea Party’s.
Congressman Neugebauer has voted for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, voted twice against the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act, voted against repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and voted against the hate crimes bill.
He lost all those votes. –The New Civil Rights Movement
