A potential customer wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwestern town where he hoped to stay during his vacation. The letter went as follows:
"I would like to know whether pets are allowed in your hotel. I very much would like to bring my dog with me during my vacation. He is well-groomed and very well-behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room during my stay in your hotel?”

A few days later, a reply from the hotel manager came which went as follows:
"In the years that I have managed and owned this hotel, I've never had any problem with a dog. . .
> stealing towels, bedclothes, silverware, or pictures off the walls;
> being drunk and disorderly in the middle of the night; taking off without properly settling a hotel bill.
Therefore, your dog is indeed welcome to stay in my hotel. And if your dog will vouch for your cleanliness, decency, honesty, and integrity, you are welcome to stay here, too."
