This Weeks Sound Off

I don't have a problem with Muslims building their place of worship anywhere (well, almost anywhere-just not in my backyard). Nonetheless, as Americans we all have the fundamental constitutional right to worship how we choose.

The problem I have is that American Muslims haven't shown me that they are about understanding or good will, as well as promoting peace. Instead, they remain quiet and underground, seemingly sneaking around trying to find ways to use the constitution to pursue their agenda and forcing us to accept them on their terms.

If Muslims want my (our) respect and acceptance then it’s time for them to come out of the shadows and be honest and open American’s. I’m not asking them to denounce their faith, on the other hand it would be totally appreciated if they would openly denounce the fanatic ideology of their faith and separate themselves from its satanic counterpart. Then I wouldn’t have a problem with our Muslim brothers and sisters being a part of the American fabric. But until then, I remain skeptical and hesitant in openly welcoming them to our way of life.
