This Weeks Sound Off

American Tea Party

I’ve always wondered why the political system in the U.S. only had two parties … Democrats and Republicans. Oh yeah, three, if you count the Independents. As divers as America is you would think that the political spectrum would have more parties than it does. Therefore, after the recent election I was elated to see the American Tea Party form. After all, with how our representatives are acting and passing laws, which most don’t agree with or don’t want, I included, the American Tea Party seemed to be a viable alternative.

In the beginning I did sign up with the Tea Party cause I really liked their message. However, now that the Tea Parties are well organized into a major political contender I’m really dissatisfied and horrified with what's going on within. My concern, rather than being a positive contender the American Tea Party is acting less and less American. My opinion, it seems that they are nothing more than Klan members without the white robes.

Yes, I disagree with President Obama on many issues and his dream for America is scary. But I do not voice my opinion in negative ways by carrying monkeys, which is in reference to our President, nor do I portray him as some joker, clown or African tribal witch doctor. For me, the color of the man’s skin does not sway me to dislike the man or fear his ideology. It is his dream for me and you which I oppose. If he was white I would feel the same way. Nevertheless, the American Tea Party is looking more and more like a far right wing fringe group who’s ideology is bigoted and racist. And if this party gains momentum towards the upcoming elections and does have a major impact on the political landscape then as American’s we have lots to be concerned about.

I, like most, would like to see the majority of our representatives kicked out of office. As a matter of fact, I believe we should dissolve our government and start over. The two parties that now “run” our country, is in my opinion, full of it and does not serve the American people … they are untrustworthy in every aspect of their “rule” and it’s time to clean house before they lead us into a political stand that is slowly becoming un-American. Like a t-shirt of mind reads, “If I don’t vote will they go away?” is truly how I feel about all of our so called elected officials. I do not believe that I am adequately represented and as a citizen it pisses me off that I have to pay taxes to a government I find out of touch and self-serving.

If I had to choose a party it would have to be the Independent Party. At one time I was a proud Democrat, but they no longer hold to values that I consider relevant. As for being a Republican … O hell no! Both parties have lost their significance and I do not believe either have much to offer me, you, or the world. As an Independent it gives me freedom in which I can voice my vote on issues I believe is best for our country rather than locking myself into a one singular parties ideology.

As for the American Tea Party, as far as I’m concerned, they can have Sarah Palin … this woman is a buffoon. Her ideology perfectly matches the Tea Party movement and its rather racy ideology. And as long as Sarah and the movements ideology remains within itself and doesn’t infect the rest of the more sound voters, whom I hope will change the course of our country before it becomes a Socialist United States of America, then I believe our future will have a chance for survival and our America will once again be strong and a major contender on the world stage.

Remember, the world is watching, in particular those who are bent on our destruction. It is time to fire our current leaders and change how business is conducted … it can no longer be business as usual.
