Lifesaver Candy

A kindergarten teacher read an article about learning by association. So she decided to try and see if the theory really worked. So, one day, the teacher handed out Lifesaver candies to her kindergarten class to teach the children colors. Sure enough, before long, they began to identify colors by associating a color with a flavor:

red.....................cherry-flavored
yellow.................lemon-flavored
green..................lime-flavored
orange ...............orange-flavored

Then, the teacher decided to see how well the kids could distinguish a shade of a certain color.

The teacher gave each one a honey-flavored Lifesaver to associate with a shade of yellow. After no one was able to associate the shade of color with the taste, the teacher tried another form of association, and she told the kids, "Here's a hint. It's what your mom may sometimes call your dad."

In a matter of seconds, one little girl's hand shot up and waved wildly in the air as she eagerly and loudly proclaimed, "I know! I know! I know!"

And so the teacher asked, "So what is it, Susie?"

And little Susie exclaimed, "Asshole!"

The teacher had to leave the room!
