Hero!

It would be interesting if a poll were taken where people were asked to guess what they thought was happening in the two photographs above. The pictures certainly suggest a joyous homecoming of a US sailor, a reunion of a mother and son. Unfortunately, the truth about the photographs is not so heart-warming. Most would never be unable to guess the true story.

The lady in the picture is actually the mother of an American soldier whose unit was ambushed in Fallujah, Iraq. Her son was murdered, and whose body was dragged around the streets of the city, then burned, and hung from the upper trusses of a bridge. The murderers gathered to celebrate and have their photos taken with the trophy.

The young sailor in the picture is one of the US Navy SEALs, who later captured the leader of the band of terrorist murderers.

However, that is not the end of the story end. The young Navy SEAL is now facing criminal charges. Thanks to the news media and America's love for "political correctness", the US sailor, [like several US service personnel before him], is now being charged with "war crimes" and is facing possible imprisonment and dishonorable discharge.

Instead of a celebration of justice being served and honoring a US soldier as a hero, the photos record betrayal, compounded mourning, and the effects of America's corrupting sickness called "political correctness"---the anomaly of not wanting to offend the enemy---a form of insanity which has been corrupting the United States.

The case against the US Navy SEALs goes to court in Norfolk, Virginia.

"It's been very stressful," said US Navy SEAL Mathew McCabe, 24, moments after his arraignment in military court at the Naval Station in Norfolk on charges that he allegedly "mistreated an Iraqi detainee".

The woman in the above photos, the mother of the slain soldier, Jerry Zovko, drove from Ohio to give each of the accused SEALs a rosary and lend them her support.

"These young SEALs are in this situation because they caught the mastermind behind the death of my son, and not only my son and his co-workers but also the Marines who went into Fallujah after their death. I am very proud of these young SEALs and thankful to them. They did not do anything wrong!" said Donna Zovko.

What kind of mentality do Americans have who send their best to defend the country and her allies, and then betray them? To what can one attribute the attitude of people who criminalize and persecute their heroes while they defend their enemies? What kind of citizens deify the corrupt but crucify and demonize the noble? That is what political correctness has done to insane Americans!

The news media and prosecutors who vilify the soldiers who fight for the nation's freedom exhibit symptoms of a sickness, a corruption of the nation's heart and soul. 'Liberalism' or 'progressivism' are just symptoms of the infection. But the disease is nothing new. The symptoms of the disease have been recognizable for decades in the shameful treatment of US soldiers returning from Vietnam, the lack of national outrage for the bombing of US military barracks in Beirut and Al-Khobar, the ho-hum yawn of the news media coverage of the US Black Hawk downing in Mogadishu, the return to mental numbness after 9/11, the prosecution of the Marines at Haditha, the assault of recruiters across the country, and the warped-minded zeal of anti-war protesters at the gates of Walter Reed Army Hospital.

This sickness, this infection has gone untreated for far too long. Americans are a tolerant bunch. We've patiently waited for the ingrates among us to grow up and develop a sense of pride and awe in the greatness of America. Unfortunately, it's not happening.

There comes a time when the treatment for an infection cannot be postponed any longer, lest the patient dies. Through history how many nations have habitually betrayed their defenders and survived?

Donna and I left our home and drove to Norfolk. We were in the company of four other patriots from North Carolina: Don Gray [of Military Appreciation Day and the North Carolina Gathering of Eagles]; Patrick Holbrook [North Carolina Gathering of Eagles]; Russell Pope [NCFreedom.us]; and Randy Dye [Randy's Right blog and NCFreedom.us].

We joined a hundred or more others at Gate 5 of the Norfolk US Naval Base to demonstrate support for US Navy SEAL, Mathew McCabe.
