This Weeks Sound Off

Balloon Boy’s Dad Goes To Jail

Richard Heene turned himself in Monday morning at the Larimer County Detention Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, said Dean Karges, a detention services specialist at the jail.

Heene pleaded guilty in November to a felony count of attempting to influence a public servant.

Prosecutors said he and his wife staged their son's disappearance to generate publicity for themselves because they wanted to star in a reality television show.

A judge sentenced Heene to spend 90 days in custody. He will spend 30 days and nights in jail but is eligible for work release during the last 60 days of his sentence, said Linda Jensen, a spokeswoman for the district attorney. –CNN Justice

The SOB deserves to go to jail … screw the work release. Make him sit there for the entire time. Better yet, put the SOB in solitary confinement … absolutely no contact with anyone. But wait, I predict that this isn’t the last we’ve heard about Richard … I feel a book deal is in the making – LOL.

Jay Leno Axed From Primetime

Jay Leno pulled no punches on his show Monday night, the first since NBC confirmed the TV host was being kicked out of his low-rated 10 p.m. slot after just three months.

"Welcome to 'The Jay Leno Show.' As you know, we're not just a show anymore, we are now a collector's item," he said to open the show, before launching into a string of scathing one-liners making not-so-light of the situation. –CNN Entertainment

Ok, I know a lot of people like Jay Leno, but in all honesty the show sucked! Specially for a primetime slot. For example, if I had to choose between American Idol and Jay Leno … Thumbs down it would be American Idol. Simon Cowell is more interesting to watch than Leno. Plus, American Idol is more entertaining. Just my preference :-).

Avatar

Near the end of the hit film "Avatar," the villain snarls at the hero, "How does it feel to betray your own race?" Both men are white - although the hero is inhabiting a blue-skinned, 9-foot-tall, long-tailed alien.

Strange as it may seem for a film that pits greedy, immoral humans against noble denizens of a faraway moon, "Avatar" is being criticized by a small but vocal group of people who allege it contains racist themes - the white hero once again saving the primitive natives.

Since the film opened to widespread critical acclaim three weeks ago, hundreds of blog posts, newspaper articles, tweets and YouTube videos have said things such as the film is "a fantasy about race told from the point of view of white people" and that it reinforces "the white Messiah fable."

The film's writer and director, James Cameron, says the real theme is about respecting others' differences. –Sun News

Lets face it, you can’t please all the people all the time! No matter how a movie, show, or whatever is produced or written there will always be those who will find something wrong with its content. Life isn’t always about political correctness and those who wish such ceases to amaze me. We live in a world of reality not political correctness and if something offends you then personally I feel it’s more of a personal problem than a public problem. Therefore, get over it and move on! I’m just saying.
