Response To Patty
This is in response to Patty’s comments posted under the title “Gay Iraqis Facing Horrific Torture” … April 25, 2009.
The reason I posted the bible thumper’s comment is because; 1) I detest political correctness. We may not agree with everything someone says, but this is a free country and as American’s our forefather’s gave us what we hold dear-freedom of speech, including freedom of the press.
Yes, what the individual commented was truly hateful, but this is America and they have the same right as you and I-the right to free speech. Furthermore, should I only post pieces that agree 100% with what is posted, good or bad, then my blog would be one sided-much like the mainstream media is today … slanted and one sided. This is not what my blog or I am all about. We can’t live life with blinders on … the whole truth and nothing but the truth, is in my opinion, the most honest form of understanding what our society and world is truly all about, good or bad. If we have the facts then as a society we can make sound judgments as to how to make it a better place to live.
2) My position on allowing such a statement to be posted stems from the saying; “you hold your friends close, but hold your enemies closer.” Information and knowledge equals power.
I believe that I would rather know what my enemy is saying and thinking so I know how to checkmate their affect on society. If we hide their words and thoughts then we haven’t a clue what we could be up against, as well as not know how to avoid possible dangers that some could bring to you and I, and on society in general.

Craigslist Underbelly
Craigslist has been in the news lately due to the recent capture of the “Craigslist Murder” Philip Markoff. With all that has been publicly released by law enforcement, it’s highly likely that Philip is the murder hands down. Unfortunately, this is not the first time a murder has occurred resulting from a Craigslist posting.
When posting an ad on Craigslist, the poster does not have to submit personal information. All you need is a valid email address and anyone can post an ad. I suspect and hope this practice will soon change and posters will be required to give up personal information for tracking purposes. And in light of recent activities resulting in a murder, I personally think Craigslist needs to begin collecting personal information, specially if the website is going to allow adult services and personal ads. Course, we already know that law enforcement is monitoring sites like this. Therefore, if you do not want information about you to become part of a data base, well, the best thing is to not join or post on sites like this.
If, on the other hand, you are going to post a personal ad, not only on Craigslist, but on any adult sites, I can only stress, be very careful. Philip Markoff and individuals like him are lurking within those personal sites. Never ever invite someone to your home or surrender your phone number unless you know the individual. Losing your life or jeopardizing your health is not worth it! There are better ways to satisfy your itch ... if you know what I mean!

Alligator Shoes
A young blonde was driving through south Louisiana while on vacation. She wanted to take home a pair of genuine alligator shoes, but found prices quoted by the local vendors way too expensive. After considerable haggling over the price in one particular shop, the shopkeeper's attitude really irked and frustrated the young blonde. She then declared, "Well then, maybe I'll just go out and catch my own alligator and get a pair of shoes for free!"
The shopkeeper daringly replied with a sly smile, "Well, why don't you go on and give it a try?"
The blonde whirled around, and stomped out of the store. And yes, believe it or not, she headed off to the swamp determined to catch an alligator.
Later that day, as the shopkeeper drove home, he spotted the same young blonde waist deep in the murky water of the bayou with a shotgun in her hand. As he brought his car to a stop, he saw a huge 9-foot 'gator swimming rapidly toward her. Before the shopkeeper could react or say anything, with lightning-speed reflexes, the blonde took aim, shot the creature, and hauled it up onto the slippery bank. To the shopkeeper's amazement, nearby were 7 more dead 'gators, all lying belly up.

Gay Iraqis Facing Horrific Torture
Over the past few weeks, news reports have surfaced about a rise in attacks and killings of gays throughout Iraq, where men—both professed and allegedly gay—are being targeted and harassed. But now there's a shocking new story that the men are being tortured to death in a most vicious way: by having their anuses glued shut and then are forced to consume a beverage that causes diarrhea, resulting in death. The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) translated a report that appeared on the Arabic-language news station Alarabiya, which said:
"A prominent Iraqi human rights activist says that Iraqi militia have deployed a painful form of torture against homosexuals by closing their anuses using 'Iranian gum.' ... Yina Mohammad told Alarabiya.net that, 'Iraqi militias have deployed an unprecedented form of torture against homosexuals by using a very strong glue that will close their anus.' According to her, the new substance 'is known as the American hum, which is an Iranian-manufactured glue that if applied to the skin, sticks to it and can only be removed by surgery. After they glue the anuses of homosexuals, they give them a drink that causes diarrhea. Since the anus is closed, the diarrhea causes death. Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq.'
According to this human rights activist, for the past 3 weeks a crackdown on homosexuals has been going on based on a religious decree that demands their death; dozens have been targeted. She says that the persecution of homosexuals is not confined to the Shiite clerics. Some Sunni leaders have also declared the death penalty for sodomy on satellite channels."
Gays in many parts of the world face persecution, but this is just plain horrific. How can a society, especially one in which Muslim leaders claim that Islam allegedly doesn't preach violence, allow this to occur? How can world leaders stand by and not put an end to this targeted abuse?
The news that gay people are being attacked doesn't come as a surprise; the Muslim world is vocally anti-gay (the claim by Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that his country didn't have any gay people living there was absurd). Sure, many will say that there are bigger issues we have to deal with, but if we can't keep innocent people safe in their own homes, how can we call ourselves civil and human?
Obviously people are abused all over the world, but when something as shocking as this surfaces, the senseless abuse needs to be squashed. What sort of pain must these men endure? And how long does their torture exist before they're spared with death?
The IGLHRC sent a letter to Iraqi Minister of Human Rights, Wijdan Salim, urging her to take action to protect her country's LGBT community. With Iraq's current unrest, it's unlikely anything will happen to protect these people. Hopefully they will be given asylum to leave their country. –Gay.com

Earth Like Planets
HATFIELD, England – In the search for Earth-like planets, astronomers zeroed in Tuesday on two places that look awfully familiar to home. One is close to the right size. The other is in the right place. European researchers said they not only found the smallest exoplanet ever, called Gliese 581 e, but realized that a neighboring planet discovered earlier, Gliese 581 d, was in the prime habitable zone for potential life."The Holy Grail of current exoplanet research is the detection of a rocky, Earth-like planet in the 'habitable zone,'" said Michel Mayor, an astrophysicist at Geneva University in Switzerland.
An American expert called the discovery of the tiny planet "extraordinary."
Gliese 581 e is only 1.9 times the size of Earth — while previous planets found outside our solar system are closer to the size of massive Jupiter, which NASA says could swallow more than 1,000 Earths. - Yahoo News

Letter By A Florida Teacher
This is a subject close to my heart. Do you know that we have adult students at the school where I teach who are not US citizens and who get the PELL grant, which is a federal grant (no pay back required) plus other federal grants to go to school?
One student from the Dominican Republic told me that she didn't want me to find a job for her after she finished my program, because she was getting housing from our housing department and she was getting a PELL grant which paid for her total tuition and books, plus money leftover.
She was looking into WAIT which gives students a CREDIT CARD for gas to come to school, and into CARIBE which is a special program (check it out - I did) for immigrants and it pays for child care and all sorts of needs while they go to school or training. The one student I just mentioned told me she was not going to be a US Citizen because she plans to return to the Dominican Republic someday and that she 'loves HER country.'
I asked her if she felt guilty taking what the US is giving her and then not even bothering to be come a citizen and she told me that it doesn't bother her, because that is what the money is there for!
I asked the CARIBE administration about their program and if you ARE a US Citizen, you don't qualify for their program. And all the while, I am working a full day, my son-in-law works more than 60 hours a week, and everyone in my family works and pays for our education.
Something is wrong here. I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. Nowhere did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration. It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not eve n close. Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY.
IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY SPEAK UP -- please pass this along. I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else.
Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past.

Children’s Version Of Politics
Whether Democrat or Republican, I think you'll get a kick out of this!
A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'
Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:
I am the head of the family, so call me The President.
Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.
We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.
The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.
And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.
Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'
So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.
Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.
He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper.
So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed.
The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'
The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'
The little boy replies, 'The President is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'

Freestyle Music Park
Hard Rock Park will be no more … in name anyway. Much to the objections of locals, the new owners have decided to rename the amusement site to Freestyle Music Park. So, the white elephant is nothing more than an old one disguised under a fresh name.
The only thing different will be the prices … anywhere from $10-$20 cheaper. It will still cost an average family of four approximately $190 just to get into the park. Once inside, on average you can expect this same family to spend another $200 on food, drinks and souvenirs.
Do I think it’s worth it? No! … Not at the current status of the park. For just under $300 one would require a great deal of enthusiasm for a venue that is lacking rides and entertainment. The park would have to make a lot of improvements to bring it up to where a family of four would want to spend their hard earned dollars. Plus, the park will have to sweet talk local business and residents into supporting the amusement park again after alienating them last season. And last but not least, the location of the park isn’t all that desirable … it’s not an area one would want to be after dark. The surrounding area is populated with warehouses and offices. Other than that, the location is pretty dismal.
The park management does promise improvements, but this is unlikely for the upcoming summer season. Therefore, if you do attend don’t expect much.
Hopefully, Freestyle Music Park will succeed. Myrtle Beach can use a good amusement park since the demise of the Pavilion, which was a tourist attraction. Therefore, I am hoping the newly named park will gets itself together and become one of our cities main attractions … god only knows we could sure use one.

A new amusement park that would include a Ferris wheel, kiddy rides and a roller coaster is being planned on Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach, and it could open as soon as Aug. 1.
The park, whose name has yet to be determined, would be between Main Street and First Avenue South on the beach side of Ocean Boulevard. The park would be built around a restaurant that currently occupies part of the site. –Sun News Online

G-20 Plan
The media about the recent G-20 summit in London are filled with the news of $1.1 trillion in stimulus spending, but the larger point is almost missed entirely: the granting of regulatory and supervisory power over our U.S. economy to an international group--primarily European! Socialism?
Norman Mattoon Thomas, (who was born on November 20, 1884, and who died on December 19, 1968), was an American socialist, pacifist, and six-time US presidential candidate of the Socialist Party of America.

Obama Youth Brigade: Church Attendance Forbidden
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bill’s title is called “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE). It forms what some are calling “Obama’s Youth Brigade.” Obama’s plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.” That means no church attendance or witnessing.
Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bill’s wording: SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

(10) Such other activities as the Corporation may prohibit.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.
This bill’s title is called “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE). It forms what some are calling “Obama’s Youth Brigade.” Obama’s plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.” That means no church attendance or witnessing.

Happy Easter

The Easter Lily, also known by its Latin name Lilium longiflorum, has become the traditional Easter flower. 545 People
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign [and legislate] against them.
Have you ever wondered if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, why we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, why we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does, and the Congress approves it.
You and I don't have the constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.
Just think, 100 senators, 435 congressmen, 9 Supreme Court justices, and 1 President --- 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no authority to coerce a senator, a congressman, or the President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of political party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who would stand up and criticize the President for creating deficits. [Yet, the truth is,] the President can only propose a budget but he cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the [currently ruling] majority party in Congress. She and her fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they want and agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by the present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red .
If the Army and the Marines are in Iraq, it's because they want them in Iraq.
If they do not receive Social Security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists whose gifts and advice they can reject; or to regulators to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like the "economy", "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Recognize The Items Below?
They are common hair bands used by females to fix and tie their hair into ponytails. They are sold in "bargain" places, such as, 99 cent stores, swap meets, and flea markets. They are very cheap. They are made mainly in China, where labor costs are quite cheap. Many of today's cheap merchandise are made in China. But do you know what the colorful hair bands are made of?

According to the China Daily News, unscrupulous business enterprises in southern China have been found to use "recycled" condoms to make cheap hair bands. Condoms which have been originally designed to protect from sexually-transmitted diseases are now threatening to spread them. These potentially harmful Chinese-made hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in the cities of Dongguan and Guangzhou in Guangdong province in southern China.The cheap and colorful hair bands sell very well. A bag of 10 hair bands made of the recycled condom sells for about 25 sen (3 cents), but they now pose a threat to the health of the local people since the used condoms could contain bacteria and viruses which could cause AIDS, genital warts, and other diseases if the hair bands or string is held in the mouth while fixing hair into a ponytails or a bun, according to local health authorities.
Like other potentially harmful materials and processes, recycling condoms is actually illegal in China. Recently, the Chinese manufacturing industry's image has been tarnished by scandals involving the use of shoddy and dangerous materials in the manufacture of goods for both domestic and foreign markets. The Chinese government has launched a public relations blitz in an effort to assuage the public and to assure people that laws are going to be strictly enforced and monitoring systems are in place.
Check the hair bands which your teenage daughter uses, and make sure that she does not put them in her mouth while trying to tie her hair.
