I truly hope that all of you had a wonderful and memorable Christmas!
Here on the home front, Christmas Eve I spent with friends of mine … Jon and Georgie. Christmas Day, my buddy Steven came over and we spent the afternoon/evening together hanging out. As for gifts and cards received, plentiful! As for eating (God only knows how I love to eat), again, plentiful! Last but not least, Sumo got a new ball, Purlie a new collar, and Buddy a special treat. So, as far as Christmas is concerned, no matter how rough the road was getting to the day, I am thankfully to say that at least we all made it.
Now that Christmas is past, I believe that history will say that this year’s celebration was a mixed bag for everyone. As for my celebrating the holiday, it was very subdued and uneventful! I didn’t go all out this year by decorating or have a Christmas party … I totally skipped the tree thing! I only purchased two gifts to pass out. Mailed less Christmas cards. Actually, trying to find and maintain the spirit of the season was very difficult this year! And I’m not alone!
Those close to me and people in general, this season was a struggle for everyone. In all my Christmas pasts, I’ve never experienced the emotional toll that this Christmas was imbedded with. If a chunk of coal was the “must have” for this season, stores would have sold out! I tell you, emotionally it wasn’t very merry! And as far as spiritually, most that I know didn’t even bother attending Christmas Eve services. Therefore, for most, I included, everyone’s just happy it’s over with! It truly was a gloomy Christmas for most!
Well, if I can end this on a bright note (hmm!), at least we have one last hurrah left … New Year’s Eve! Wow, how the year has flown by! At least one thing is certain, for most, we’ll be able to look back on 2008 as it ticks its way out and say; it was what it was … bye-bye now!, and PRAY that the New Year will be better in every way.
