The voice of America has spoken! Obama is now the President-Elect! It is what it is and it's time to move forward, not along racial lines, but as a united people ... the world is watching! And how we handle ourselves from this day forward will, hopefully, set a positive example to the rest of the world that we as American's can come together and solve what ales our country, our neighbors and our planet.
For the past month, my inbox has been filled with emails about our President-Elect. 99% of those emails were nothing more than negative attacks, slanderous attacks, not so truthful attacks, etc., etc., against Obama. As for negative emails towards Senator McCain ... 1%. We have literally CRUCIFIED Obama! Well, liked them or not, I have read each email ... more often than not, I've had to scratch my scalp in amazement. Well, my scalp is now RAW! And, OMG!, I am experiencing an election hangover. This election has made me SICK!!!! Imagine, if you will, if Obama was gay and running for president ... Black and Gay ... A double whammy! I can only imagine the hatred that would come out of this! Because one is BLACK we hate? What's up with this???? Because one is GAY we hate? What's up with this???? Have we as a people forget to evolve or what? I'm just saying!
For whatever reason, we may not like the outcome of the election, and that's ok! Nonetheless, complaining about the color of one's skin, hating because we don't agree, slandering because we vote along party lines, isn't going to change the outcome. Instead, it is time for you and I to come to the table, together, as one voice, and begin solving that which divides, solving that which affects our daily lives, try and change that which affects our planet. It is time to pick out battles wisely and find situations rather than making matters worse. As a country we are facing some very difficult times. We have some very difficult issues at hand that needs our undivided attention. We need resolution not conflict. We are the United States of America! It is time to hope for positive and constructive change if we as a nation is going to remain the envy of the world. It is time for change and hopefully our President-Elect will lead us in the right direction. Remember, divided we fall, united we stand! Which side are you going to stand on ... the choice is now yours!
Back to the political emails for a moment. I am asking that these stop! I just want to get over the hangover I have and be able to breath a sigh of relief that this election is FINALLY over ... it's been a long road to this day and it's time to take a deep breath, take one step back, and then begin moving forward. So, lets all get over it? I certainly have! Oh, I do have to admit that some of the political emails were pretty funny ... now those I don't mind! But as for the trash, send them to someone who cares, please? Thanks!
P.S. If you think that the message in this email signifies that I voted for Obama or McCain ... I DID NOT! I belonged to the 2% in the "Other" category.
