F.Y.I.

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six years, the economy was fine. A little over one year ago:

1) consumer confidence stood at a 2 and 1/2-year high;
2) regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was down to 4.5%;
4) the Dow Jones hit a record high of 14,000+;
5) Americans were living it up---people were buying new cars, taking cruises and overseas vacations! But Americans wanted change. So, in 2006 they voted in a Democrat-controlled Congress and sure enough, America got change.

Within the past year:

1) consumer confidence has plummeted;
2) gasoline sky rocketed to over $4 a gallon (altho' very slow dropping but only probably until after the election. After the election, watch out! It will not be surprising if gasoline prices soar again to possibly $5.00 per gallon or more. The oil companies are known for being greedy, and have to recoup any loss with vengeance!);
3) unemployment rose to 5.5% --- a 10% increase;
4) Americans have seen their real estate property values drop, and prices are still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure---the number is rising;
6) the Dow Jones has dropped to record lows. About $2.5 trillion have evaporated from stocks, bonds, & mutual funds;
7) most Americans' cruise & overseas vacations and buying of new cars are on hold, and the automotive, retail, and travel industries are reporting big losses.

YES, in 2006 America voted for change, and America surely got it! The President has NO control the above issues. The Democrat-controlled CONGRESS does.

REMEMBER! It is Congress who enacts the nation's laws and formulates the nation's policies! The President only executes what Congress passes and approves. Without Congress' approval, the President can not do things on his own.

What has the Democrat-controlled Congress done in the last two years to prevent today's crisis? Evidently, with the present state of affairs, very little, but actually it looks more like nothing! Now, the Democrat Party's candidate for President claims that he is for change. With a Democrat-controlled Congress which has been responsible for America's problems today? What kind of change is he talking about? ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS!
