All my voting years, win or loose, I’ve been a faithful voting Democrat. It wasn’t because I’m liberal, whatever that means, but I’ve always been for the underdog and at one time Democrat’s looked after the underdogs. As for the Republican’s, I believe they only care about themselves. As Marie Antoinette said; “feed them cake!” ... for most of my life, I am of the opinion that the Republican’s have been feeding me cake.
Today, I’m ashamed to be a Demarcate much less a Republican. And being that this is an election year, what I’m having to vote for isn’t the party. It isn’t even for or about the man. I’m going to be voting for an ideology! Frankly, this kind a freak’s me out! I mean, it’s not even about an a dream, a country, a democracy … about America. It’s an ideology! Yup, this freak’s me out!
I have to admit that Obama, American’s first Black American to ever win its parties nod, is quite the man! Other blacks have tried their hand for the White House but without success. Nonetheless, you have to admit that Obama has charisma. On the other side, McCain, an American hero, is nothing more than an extension of past policies. Oh, and yeah Mr. McCain, I do worry that you’re to old for the job. Ok, call this ageism … I’m fine with it! It’s just that I don’t feel comfortable with a man in his 70’s leading our nation. On the other hand, I don’t like the idea of voting for a man just because he’s black? If I don’t will I be consider a racist? Frankly, I don’t care! No matter how we like to think that as American’s we are color blind, we’re not! And in this climate is Obama going to be an effective leader? I have my doubts!
In my opinion, neither party really offers me any more security, comfort, nationalism, and personal pride. Obama offer’s me change … from what, to what? Then, McCain kind of strikes me more of a Vladimir Putin type … Is he really all about America? Personally, neither candidate really impresses me as leadership material. And as for placing my confidence in either, NOT! I want to vote American, and not for an ideology … specially, an international ideology. Hitler had an ideology and we know what happened there. Islam has an ideology … They’ve certainly have made it clear as to their intent! Basically, from my point of view, neither candidates have the guts to stand on the world stage and represent me as an American.
A dear friend of mine gave me a t-shirt on which it reads; “If I don’t vote will they go away.” Honestly, even though we’ve got a great form of government, personal freedoms, enjoy a great life, have a majestic country, and a history well worth it’s weight in gold, I’m going to write in my vote. That’s right, I’m not voting for either candidate! I’m just not convinced that either one is going to make much difference on the world stage than what is already going on. That’s right, more of the same ole bullshit. As proven in years past, up until they are inaugurated these candidates will promise the world/change, but once confirmed they do what the hell they want without regard to “We The People.”
Give me something to be proud about … a reason to vote. Give me a leader … a man that will take this country and do what is necessary to give America back to us. Give me a President that will stand up to ideologies that isn’t America … who isn’t afraid to step on toes. Who isn't afraid to KICK ASS abroad or here at home when he needs to. Give me a government that represents the people … not one that is self-serving and caters to special interests. Give me a voice … get rid of the supper delegates as well as the electoral collage. Don’t get me wrong, I love my country and all that it is. But, I’m really disillusioned and worry that things will continue to be as is, void of real change, and in four years we’ll be rehashing the same old song and dance. Yes, we need change. This business as usual mentality in Washington has got to end!
Well, on to the Olympics!
