The city of Myrtle Beach is working hard to bring an end to the annual Harley-Davidson and Bike Fest rallies. This is a BIG mistake! I agree that when these rallies are in town it’s a headache to get around the city, the noise is loud, accidents claims lives, and there are those who create problems for law enforcement, restaurants and hotels, etc. But to outright ban these annual events because its a headache … not a good idea! Yes, trouble makers come with the territory, but to deny those who come to our city and enjoy their time with us, spend money, and don’t cause trouble, well, Mr. Mayor, don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater! Here’s why.
These two events bring DOLLAR$ to the city. Local merchants, business, restaurants, hotels, amassment parks, venders, including law enforcement financially benefit from these rallies. Should the city of Myrtle Beach succeed in banning these lucrative events it will surely affect the bottom line for many business, including those of us who work for a living during these events. Bikers spend MONEY! Myrtle Beach business depend on tourism dollars! So Mr. Mayor don’t be an idiot! Think twice before you think that our city would be better off if bikers would simply take their money and go away.
